Judd Yaeger - Below the Knee Amputee

Front Driver's Side - Toyota Tundra

On December 5, 2009, Judd Yaeger and his wife Andrea were involved in a head-on collision on Highway 95 just east of Cambridge.  A west bound driver came across the center line and struck Judd and Andrea’s vehicle.

The impact sent the Tundra flipping into the ditch.  Judd was extricated from the vehicle with lower left leg and back injuries.  He was airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN.  Judd was released on December 16.  Andrea was able to climb out of the vehicle under her own power.  She was admitted and released from the hospital in Cambridge on December 5.  Both Judd and Andrea were wearing their seat belts.

On January 4, 2010 Judd underwent below the left knee amputation surgery.  This was a result of the damage from the accident and a subsequent MRSA infection in his left foot diagnosed on Christmas eve and Christmas day.

Judd took his first steps with his temporary prosthesis on February 12 with friends and family present at Winkley Orthotics.  He will remain in the back brace until February 26 for continued protection of the fractured L2 vertebrae.
